This is the bio from my last blog. I will update it someday, but wanted to put something here.
I was born in Albuquerque, NM, moved to Colorado Springs and then to Montgomery, AL. When I was 4 we moved to Alexandria, VA and lived there for 8 years. That’s where I went to Kindergarten and Elementary School.
At 12 we moved to Oak Ridge, TN, near Knoxville, and I went through my Jr. Hi and High School years there.
I grew up with four older brothers, loved playing with cars and tossing a football. My dad was a colonel in the Air Force, my mom was a 5th grade school teacher. I attended college at Baylor University in Waco, Texas where I met my amazing husband of over 30 years.
I have five phenomenal daughters, three incredible sons-in-law, and now seven absolutely adorable grandchildren. Our last two, from Uganda, arrived in October 2011 and we couldn’t be more smitten.

Mrs. Hyatt, this is great! You’re really Southern with all of those years.
I grew up one of five – four girls and one boy. Now I have boys.
God Bless!
Hey sweet girl! Would love to get a phone call from you and rekindle a friendship, unless you are just too busy.
It’s been a long time but I just bet we could probably pick back up fairly quickly and with great love!
Looking forward to that opportunity:-)
Blessings,

Hi!
Found you while searching “Orthodox Christian” on Twitter. Not Orthodox myself (yet?) but I find myself attracted to the depth of theology. Anyway, will be watching your blog from afar!!
I was just re-reading some comments and ran across yours. How’s your search going?
Ha! At the moment my mind is preoccupied with nuclear reactors and radioactivity! We live just a little south of Tokyo and it’s not clear yet whether or not I should be taking the family and high-tailing it out of here. But I suppose when things settle down the “search” will resume. All the Rob Bell stuff lately has got me thinking and talking lots about the orthodox perspective on hell. i think people should be listening carefully to that. But right now I have to listen carefully to the radio reports!
Our prayers are with you in Japan. Lord have mercy.
Hi and thanks for the comment! I tried to tweet back your direct message, but it wouldn’t let me, so I’ll go here again (feel free to delete the comment after you see it). My email is fatblueman@yahoo.ca.
Yes, feeling agnostic has been a big part of the journey for me, but I don’t stay there. In fact, on your quotes page Mr. Dostoevsky is in top spot – for me that guy has been a big deal. It was Zossima in Karamazov speaking about hell that got me looking into Eastern Orthodoxy. And now I am doing a masters these on CS Lewis, and so much of what he says resonates with Eastern Orthodox themes, especially when it comes to heaven and hell.
Anyway, glad to have found your blog. I will be tuning in.
Hi Gail, This website contains pictures (gorgeous!) of the Orthodox Monastery in Trooditissa built in 1250 it is said to be the stronghold of Orthodox Christians. Thought you and Mike would enjoy these pictures:http://new-karfagen.livejournal.com/68319.html
Blaforce,
Thank you so much for sharing. Absolutely beautiful. Have you been there? It’s so large, very impressive. To God be the glory.
I agree with your husband. Your blog is brilliant!
Hi Chandra,
Thank you for stopping by and for your kind words. This writing thing is hard. I have SO much respect for those who can do it on a regular basis and keep it up.
The last time I posted was in May. Now here I am in February. Nine months later. Geesh.

Hi, nice to meet you !
Hi Gail,
Some time ago you referenced a software that you found helpful for coordinating bringing meals to someone in need; new baby, sickness, etc. I’ve searched your blog and cannot find it. If you have that info at your fingertips will you send it my way?
Thank you!
Amy
Send me your e-mail address, Gail. I have a response to send you re the several blog comments you made on the “On Pilgrimage” blog…

Thanks for your consideration.

Hi Cindy,
Thanks so much for visiting my site. I’m pleased that you liked it. I hope to do more blogging in the months ahead. I have lots of things I’d like to write about, I just can’t seem to settle down and focus on actually making it happen. Life.
I’m not reviewing any books right now, but thanks for considering.
All the best,
Gail

I just clicked over here after reading your post on reading and was surprised to see you loved in Oak Ridge! We live in Powell and go to church in Oak Ridge — just saw fireworks there last night. Small world!
Oops, that should have been “lived,” not “loved”…
Hi Gail,
Wanted to say that I have been so blessed by your husband through his blog. I am sure many people say this. He inspired me to write – I now have a blog – and to plan my life, through his free e-book. He is so generous; kindly share with him my appreciation.
Hi Gail,
Not totally sure how i came across your blog but we have some things in common… my husband graduated from Baylor and Truett seminary and we just adopted two little boys from an orphanage outside Jinja. Praying for your family!
